Tri-fold Shutter Card

I made this style of card for my nephew a few weeks ago, and used Sesame Street stickers to decorate the entire card. As I made it, I realized that the layout was really better suited to a girlie-girl card! I wanted to get back to this and re-create it for a friend of mine who has a birthday in a few weeks. So here is my practice card. What do you think? I really like the papers and colors, the colors are more suited to my personality but my friend will get papers that are more her style. I won't say more...she may be reading!
Here is a link for a tutorial that you can find all over the crafty-net, just by searching "tri-fold shutter card" I didn't use this one, but I looked at it and it is very similar to the directions I found at split-coast stampers.http://craftiblog.wordpress.com/2009/04/23/2009-04-23-quad-fold-card-sample-tutorial/
Plus the author made a video for those that like to see the entire process in action.
I'm posting 3 pictures so you can see all the different folds it has and the areas to decorate. Although it looks complicated, the card base is actually quite easy to make. It's the decorating that is hard!

Please leave a comment...I love 'em!

Independence Day

I had a super time during the 4th of July 3-day weekend. I was able to spend time with my family and I was able to find time to do some crafting. And extra bonus: I didn’t do any gardening, a chore I really should do. I was enjoying my family and craft time too much to go out in the 94-degree heat to attack weeds. I’m sure I’ll regret it tomorrow when I look out side and wonder why didn’t I get more done?

But lookie lookie! I made some terrific things and I ordered paper and supplies for more classes and just had good time getting on-top of things.

I was able to design and make the September kit/class: “Basic Grey Elegant Trio”
There will be 16 kits available but I don’t expect there to be any left over.

Then I designed a treat box and made it out of this fun paper, but decided to use the design for a Christmas/Winter class and had an immediate order for 10.

And finally, I was able to design and create 2 more cards for a future birthday class. I have paper for the 3rd but I’m not sure how to embellish it. It’s a puzzle. (har-har.)

All of these classes are high-quality and gorgeous and I’m very proud of them. And since I’m riding high on this crafting-bliss, I’m going to give away some “blog-candy” but you’ll have to check back in 2 weeks for your chance to enter. And if you have an opportunity, forward the link to the blog to someone you think will enjoy the crafts and possibly the chance to win a prize.

Oh, and didn't you notice? I'm sitting here in some new blogging digs. Leave a comment-let me know what you think!

PS: The last class/kit for July should be up next week: sherbet-colored summer theme cards. Check back for the addition on Thursday.
